Two levels of band are offered, Band I, and Wind Ensemble. Wind Ensemble utilizes materials more technically demanding than those for Band I. Wind Ensemble is designed for the student of advanced ability level. Both Band Classes focus on the study of traditional band literature as well as transcriptions of great orchestral literature. Students will advance in technical skill, stylistic understanding of historical background, and aesthetic awareness through the study and performance of quality music literature. The instrumental music teacher will place students in the organization which, in his/her best judgment, will provide the most beneficial educational experience for the individual. Performances at school and community events are an integral part of the program. Participation in the public performances is a required component of this course. Instruction in the honors level performing organizations will include foundations in music theory to prepare students for participation in Advanced Placement Music Theory.

Band may be repeated for credit. Participation in this class is required for students to be eligible should they choose to participate in All County and All State opportunities.
